Our Web Design Process, From Analysis to Launch

Anyone looking to have a website built wants to know what to expect, in terms of time, content, and cost. As a web design agency from Schortens (Friesland), we are therefore transparent about how a project at TwoPixels GmbH unfolds. No black box, no guesswork: you follow every step and give targeted approval before we move forward.

A standard website usually goes live after 3 to 4 weeks. For more complex projects with multilingual content, shop integration, or custom functionality, we realistically plan for 6 to 12 weeks.

Phase 1, Kick-off & Strategy Workshop

It begins with a structured conversation, in person in Schortens, by phone, or via video call. We clarify your goal, target audience, competitors, and the core message of your brand. You describe what did not work on the old website; we provide initial strategic assessments. The result: a shared briefing document that serves as the binding foundation for all further phases.

Phase 2, Concept & Information Architecture

Based on the briefing, we develop the page structure: what content does your website need, in what order, with what priority? You receive a sitemap draft and a wireframe of the key pages, without elaborate design, but with clear logic. Here, we jointly decide which pages fulfill which purpose and define the conversion path. Your approval of this step is a prerequisite for Phase 3.

Phase 3, UX/UI Design

We design the complete visual look, consistently following the mobile-first principle. That means: smartphone first, desktop as an extension. You see real views for both formats and can give targeted feedback on colors, typography, or layouts. Two rounds of revisions are included before approval. Fonts are hosted locally, no Google Fonts request that raises GDPR questions.

Phase 4, Development in Two-Week Sprints

Implementation happens in two-week sprints. After each sprint, a working version is available on our staging environment, a password-protected preview URL that only you can see. This way you can actively follow the progress instead of being presented with a surprise at the end. We continuously check loading times: the goal is a loading time under 2 seconds on mobile devices, achieved through optimized images, minimized JavaScript, and performant hosting.

Phase 5, Content & SEO Integration

Texts, images, and structured data flow in parallel to development. You provide the raw material, and we review, refine, and structure it for search engines. Title tags, meta descriptions, heading hierarchy, and internal linking are implemented cleanly. Anyone who has a website built and considers SEO from the start saves expensive rework later.

Phase 6, Testing & Quality Assurance

Before launch, our team systematically tests the website: cross-browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge), all common smartphone sizes, form functions, 404 pages, redirects, and loading times. Accessibility, GDPR compliance (cookie consent, legal notice, privacy policy), and correct indexing directives are checked and documented.

Phase 7, Launch

We plan the go-live together: DNS migration, SSL certificate, redirects for old URLs, and a final functionality check on the live domain. The date is in your hands; we stand ready on launch day and respond within a few hours to any issues.

Phase 8, CMS Training & Support

After launch, we personally train you on the content management system, 1 to 2 hours, either on-site in Northwest Lower Saxony or via video call. You learn to maintain texts and images independently, without depending on us. For everything beyond that, updates, extensions, security patches, we remain by your side as a long-term partner.
