DATEV Interface for JTL
JTL2Datev or a custom TwoPixels mapping solution with SKR03/04. 490 € one-time.
Open price calculator →Accounting errors in JTL-Wawi rarely surface immediately. They surface at the tax advisor, when the DATEV posting data does not match the shop revenue, when VAT classes are assigned incorrectly, or when creditor postings appear twice. This costs tax advisor hours, delays annual financial statements, and triggers inquiries from the tax office.
TwoPixels GmbH configures the DATEV interface for JTL-Wawi correctly from the ground up, coordinated with your tax advisor, matched to your chart of accounts, with automatic consistency checks before every export.
Why the DATEV Integration Is Complex
JTL-Wawi handles orders, purchase invoices, shipping costs, returns, credit notes, and incoming payments. All of these transactions must be mapped correctly to posting accounts when transferred to DATEV, according to your tax advisor chart of accounts (SKR03 or SKR04), your VAT configuration (19%, 7%, intra-community deliveries, third-country exports), and your internal cost center structures.
On top of that: Shopify and WooCommerce orders that reach JTL-Wawi through the TwoPixels Bridge bring their own payment methods (Shopify Payments, PayPal, Klarna). Each of these payment methods needs its own receivables account or its own clearing account logic in DATEV.
- SKR03/SKR04 account mapping for all posting types
- VAT classes: domestic, EU, third country, differentiated taxation
- Payment methods: PayPal, Shopify Payments, Klarna, direct debit, prepayment, each with its own posting logic
- Returns and credit notes: correct offsetting entries, no single-cancellation chaos
JTL2Datev: What the Official Interface Can Do
JTL2Datev is the official transfer tool from JTL-Software GmbH. It exports receivables and payables posting data in the DATEV ASCII format (posting batch), which can be imported directly into DATEV Kanzlei-Rechnungswesen or DATEV Unternehmen Online.
TwoPixels configures JTL2Datev completely: chart of accounts selection, posting period, document number ranges, VAT class assignment, and tax codes. Before the first production export, we test the output together with your tax advisor against a test posting period.
What JTL2Datev can do:
- DEBI postings (customer payments, order revenue)
- KREDI postings (supplier incoming invoices)
- Document image export (PDF invoices as attachments)
- Tax classes relevant to VAT advance returns
Where JTL2Datev reaches its limits:
- No automatic mapping rules for multiple payment methods
- No cross-client consolidation exports
- No built-in consistency check before export
The TwoPixels DATEV Extension Solution
For clients with complex requirements, TwoPixels has developed its own DATEV export extension that complements JTL2Datev. This solution runs as a separate service and accesses the JTL-Wawi database to validate and enrich posting data before export.
Automatic account mapping: Each payment method (Shopify Payments, PayPal, Klarna, Amazon Pay) is automatically mapped to the correct clearing account. New payment methods are added through configuration, without any programming changes.
Consistency check before export: Before every export, the solution checks whether all posting documents are complete, whether VAT classes are assigned consistently, and whether return credit notes have correct offsetting entries. Errors are output as a report, no export with known errors.
Multi-client consolidation: For holding structures or merchants with multiple JTL clients, the solution creates consolidated posting exports per tax advisor relationship.
- What: Automatic payment method mapping, Benefit: No manual rework across 20+ payment methods
- What: Consistency check before export, Benefit: Error rate reduced to under 0.1%
- What: Multi-client export, Benefit: One export for multiple JTL clients to the same tax advisor
Setup: SKR03, SKR04, Tax Classes, and Account Mapping
Setting up the DATEV interface begins with a coordination meeting between TwoPixels, the client, and the tax advisor. We clarify: Which chart of accounts is used (SKR03 or SKR04)? What cost center structure is desired? How should payment service providers be posted?
Based on this coordination, TwoPixels configures:
- Chart of accounts selection and posting accounts per posting type
- VAT codes for all relevant tax classes
- Document number ranges (so DATEV receives unique document numbers)
- Offsetting account for incoming payments per payment method
- Posting period and export interval
Export Modes and DATEV Connect Online
TwoPixels sets up the export schedule according to your needs. For most clients, we recommend weekly exports, which keeps the posting data current without overloading the tax advisor with daily mini-batches. For clients with high document volume or monthly closing requirements, daily exports are also configurable.
The transfer to the tax advisor happens either through DATEV Connect Online (direct upload to the DATEV Kanzlei environment) or via an encrypted DATEV export file. TwoPixels configures both variants.
- Weekly export as the standard recommendation
- Daily export for clients with high document volume
- DATEV Connect Online integration for direct Kanzlei upload
- GoBD-compliant archiving of all exported posting data
GoBD-Compliant Archiving
The principles for the proper keeping and retention of books, records, and documents in electronic form (GoBD) require that posting documents be stored immutably and in an audit-proof manner. TwoPixels ensures that all exported DATEV posting data and the corresponding document images (PDF invoices) are archived in a GoBD-compliant manner on the hosting infrastructure, with a 10-year retention period and access log.
